Hi, I’m Danielle. I’m a university student in my last year of majoring in International Studies. I have a part-time job at my university's ESL program helping students with whatever they need, translating for Japanese students, doing office work, and that sort of thing.
I've been dating an amazing man from Osaka, Japan for a little over a year and a half and am madly in love with him~ You'll usually see me refer to him as "boyfran", and rarely by his actually name (Sou).

Please read my FAQ before asking me any questions!
I’m more than happy to answer pretty much anything else – ask me with your username (non-anon) if you’d like the reply to be private.

I’m pretty friendly (although a little bit awkward), so feel free to chat with me anytime! I’m always happy to meet people with similar interests~

Some Info About My Blog:

-about 80% of my posts are queued to post every 2 hours from 10am to 10pm MDT
-text posts and asks are often deleted after a day or two.
-I try to tag triggers - please send me a message if I fail to do so, and I will remedy that asap.
-do not repost my personal photos!!! also, please respect my intellectual property by sourcing to me when I ask you.
-I ask that you please do not reblog my personal photos onto pro-ana blogs or tag them as thinspiration - it makes me uncomfortable.

By the way, I just want to note - I am reading and taking into consideration every piece of advice you all send me, but so as not to spam my followers (and not make the entire first page of my blog asks), I won’t be publishing any.
This means that if you send it anonymously, you won’t receive a reply. But rest assured I do read and appreciate everything!

baroquewinter asked: When did you switch from visual kei to Lolita/ gyaru/ otome kei?

Oh gosh I read this as “why” at first and I was like…GURL THAT IS WAY TOO HARD OF A QUESTION. lol.

I actually started wearing lolita before my J-punk stage! My first lolita items were bought when I went to Tokyo in April ‘06 (a HeartE skirt and matching socks from Closet Child), my first J-punk items were bought in May ‘07 (a bunch of Putumayo stuff). I didn’t stop wearing lolita during that time, but it was mostly punk lolita, or at least punk-ish.
I really started getting into more girly styles in late ‘08 and have continued to go down that path ever since!

But a part of me is still deeply in love with Putumayo - not sure I’ll ever totally shake that one…

Please CLICK HERE to visit my GoFundMe fundraiser to learn more about why I feel a service dog would benefit me and for cost breakdowns.

Hello, my name is Danielle and in September 2012, I was diagnosed with a rare sleep disorder called idiopathic hypersomnia. It is largely not understood by the medical community, and there are no FDA-approved treatments on the market.
This disorder causes severe excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), uncontrollable long sleep periods, and extreme mental fog. It is not uncommon for me to sleep 18 hours a day, even with three alarms set.
As you can imagine, this has caused immense difficulty in my academics, professional, and personal lives. I will finally be graduating college in August at age 24, and will be unable to work fulltime until researchers can find a better treatment for me.

I am extremely worried that I won’t be able to wake up even for a parttime job - a friend suggested the idea of a service dog, trained to wake me up when my alarm goes off. Unlike a piece of technology, a dog does not have a button that shuts it off!
Unfortunately, dogs are very expensive to take care of - that is why I’ve created this fundraiser. The goal is $1300 - an estimate of how much it will cost to purchase and care for the dog for one year.

Even if you can’t donate anything, a reblog is much appreciated to help me get the word out!

interesting………

To answer the question in your tag (and I’d prefer people actually ask me directly on these things) - I will be living with my boyfriend, but, from experience, I can tell you that people give up on trying to wake me pretty darn quickly. I tend to tell them (without fully realizing it) to leave me alone and have gotten quite nasty before (and then woken up several hours later, realizing what I did and feeling quite bad about it). Unfortunately, there are a number of people who can attest to this.

He’s also going to be going to school full-time (in a language that is not his first), and not only do I not want to have to rely on him to make sure I’m up and actually moving (I’ve been known to “wake up”, only to fall back asleep a mere minute later if I don’t actually get up and get ready - I’ve also fallen asleep after taking a shower, only to wake up 3 hours later and realize what happened), but he simply will not have the time to be able to do that for me.

In other words - I do not feel right asking my boyfriend (or any other person) to come in/call me every 5 minutes for 2 hours to make sure I make it to work, because that’s what it often takes.

I am very open to answering questions regarding my fundraiser, my disorder, and anything else related to this post, so no one should feel shy about visiting my ask box!
Another purpose of this is to raise awareness for a disorder that many do not even know exists, so I am more than happy to explain things.

My next post is going to be #5000, and it is a very, very important one for me ;u;’

I’ve been hemming and hawing about actually going through with my fundraiser to get a service dog when I move - but at the advice of good friends and amazing coworkers, I’ve decided to do it.
So please look for the post soon~
